Job Purpose
The Youth Pastor is responsible for providing oversight, leadership and implementation of ministry strategies over the Legacy Youth Ministry. The role of the Youth Pastor is to be a champion for the goals and mission of Legacy Youth and to serve students, families and team members of Legacy Youth. This role is vital in connecting students to God and others.
Legacy’s Youth Ministry is responsible for all ministries pertaining to students grades 6 - 12. The ministry partners with parents to raise up the next generation to have a passionate love for Jesus and His church.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure all Legacy Youth initiatives are in alignment with the vision and values of Legacy Church
- Collaborate with the Directional Leadership Team to ensure the Legacy Youth Ministry is integrated into the broader mission of the church
- Regularly attend Team Meetings and contribute to the overall vision and strategy of the church
- Foster a safe and secure environment for students and volunteers
- Implement policies and procedures to ensure a safe and secure environment for students and volunteers (i.e. check-in/check out systems, volunteer background checks, first aid and emergency protocols)
- Lead the weekly Youth Gathering
- Create an environment that is fun and welcoming for all students to encounter Jesus in a life-changing way
- Oversee set up and tear down for the evening gatherings
- Develop message content for the message weekly
- Ensure all aspects of the gathering are done with excellence and inputted into Planning Center in a timely manner
- Communicate to leaders the expectation and goals for the evening
- Create an environment that is fun and welcoming for all students to encounter Jesus in a life-changing way

- Provide spiritual care for students, including praying with them, offering counseling when appropriate and being available to support their spiritual growth

- Oversee planning and execution of Youth events
- Plan events with purpose, ensuring they guide students toward meaningful next steps in their faith journey, rather than just creating activities for the sake of having them
- Events include but are not limited to Winter Camp, Grad Sunday, Summer Events, Summer Camp, Halloween Party, Friendsgiving, McFormal

- Promote Parent and Family Engagement
- Communicate regularly with parents to inform them about what their students are learning, upcoming events and resources for family faith development

- Create and Manage Youth Ministry Budget
- Ensure funds are allocated appropriately for curriculum, events, supplies and other needs
- Monitor and order materials, equipment and supplies for the ministry

- Connect with schools within the community in order to enable students to participate in student services
- Recruit and Develop team of volunteer leaders
- Initiate volunteer conversations
- Coordinate and lead the volunteer orientation and scheduling processes
- Follow protocol to on-board new leaders including background check screening
- Training volunteers in child safety protocols and handling any incidents that may arise
- Follow up with volunteers from when they begin serving to ensure satisfaction
- Ensure each volunteer feels confident, celebrated and are meeting expectations at each stage of their development
- Initiate volunteer conversations
- Be available to provide additional support during Sunday Gatherings

Working Conditions
This position receives moderate to limited supervision while working from objectives that have been set by the Lead Pastor. Most assignments are organized and carried out in accordance with standard practices or instructions. The Youth Pastor starts out with more direction and supervision, but the goal and current outcome is that they quickly move into the category of receiving general direction while working from established policies and objectives.
Direct Report
This position is not a supervisory position and reports directly to the Operations Pastor.
